The ensemble worn by Janet Jackson in the’Scream’ music video opposite her brother Michael Jackson is one of the items that went on auction on the 3rd.
Julien’s Auctions said her black circular bubble-textured fabric long-sleeved shirt, black patent leather pants, and black patent leather over the ankle boots were sold on Saturday for $125,000. An auction titled “The Iconic Treasure of Janet Jackson’s Legendary Career and Life” was held until Sunday, the singer’s 55th birthday.
Janet has partnered with Juilen’s Auctions to sell more than 1,000 items from career and personal treasures. The auction took place live in Beverly Hills, California and appeared on Julien’s website.
A portion of the proceeds go to Compassion International, an organization that helps children get out of poverty.
Janet’s floor-length metallic silver coat with a sheepskin shearling lining, cuffs and collar designed by Helen Storey was bought for $50,000. Her silver thong bikini and a pair of matching pants Janet wears under her coat sold for $25,600.
On Friday, along with Janet’s original jacket from the 1990 Rhythm Nation Tour, black satin gloves with a black ‘1814’ cap and metal nameplate were sold for $81,250.
Other items, such as Janet’s silver-tone hoop earrings, and her Rhythm Nation Tour, with the keys worn at the 1987 Soul Train Awards, sold for $43,750.
