How waking up at 5 a.m. changes your life {why, how, benefit}

What time do I have to wake up-5 am?

Wake up at 5 am.

To be more specific, I usually wake up at 5 in the morning. It’s consistent, but the reality is that I occasionally hit the snooze button and wake up at 5 am.

There is no magic.

Trust me. I wasn’t always a person in the morning.

Morning man or night owl, I think they came to a different point in your life.

When I was younger or when I was in college, I was probably an owl. I took many units every semester and did a job or internship. The time I could study for school was until 2pm. Then I got dressed and got out of bed with enough time to head to first class.

I didn’t like breakfast too much.

I believed 9am was too early, and of course 2am doesn’t help with morning optimism. Now in their 30s, I think 7am is too late! Rarely, when you wake up at 7 a.m., “What is this… I am lazy in bed.”

There are stages in life, and in this process the daily routine of the morning and evening will change.

At this point in my life, my husband and I have no children, have a business and run at a high rate. 1,000% personal and professional growth! We run, read, work, travel, and my husband and I usually book all parts of the day, week, month and year.

I wake up at 5am because I want. It was efficient, effective and helped us rule the day instead of the day we rule us!

People with kids I’ve spoken to will want to get up early and have a quiet time. It’s not my world, so I’ll only share it from our point of view.

I want to wake up at 5am so I can read this. You may be wondering how to get up early and if it’s worth it.

First, I think it’s easier if you have a routine. So, I’ll share the 5am routine. The tips I share across all resources are from personal experience. I do what I preach. Never share any advice or advice on things that cannot be said from personal experience.

Then, let’s share some of the benefits of waking up at 5 a.m., and finally, let’s look at some tips to help you get up early and how to keep them.

Let’s jump!

My 5am routine

The 5am routine consists of:

  • coffee
  • Journaling
  • Reading
  • writing
  • Exercise
  • breakfast

I wake up at 5 am and immediately head to the kitchen to make coffee. I have a Bialetti stove top coffee maker and I drink the Lavazza coffee brand. Italy, especially our dear friend Fabz, has a great influence on the coffee we drink at home. There is no typical American drip coffee maker in my house. The preparation process for stove coffee takes about 10 minutes. I put it down. Close your eyes every morning and enjoy the best coffee.

While the coffee is on the stove, I keep a diary. I will write down my daily affirmations and my goals and sometimes write something about our current situation.

When the coffee was ready, I read the book for 30 minutes.

In the morning, I read a business, finance or strategy book. Reading this kind of book will prepare your mind for the day. In the evening, I read a biography or a specific personal development book. I don’t prefer to read business books in the evening as I start thinking overly about the application and it takes longer to fall asleep.

I switch to writing 30 minutes until 6 am. It’s time to write website content. This isn’t the only time I write on weekdays, but it’s something I really enjoy, so it’s important to write as part of my morning routine.

Prepare for your workout from 6:30 AM to 6:45 AM. Put on exercise equipment, braid your hair, and more.

At 6:45 AM we run or do strength training. For example, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Wednesday and Friday are strength training, Saturdays are long distances (run more than an hour), and Sundays are yoga. Starts at the same time every day, except on Saturdays when they join a running group at 5:45 AM. In summer, Austin’s summers are hot, so you want to run before sunset.

Eat breakfast until 8 am And get ready for the day. It’s working until 8:30 AM. In our company, this is called the “start-up work routine”.

So, from 5 am to 8:30 am, I write, read, write, work out, and start a fantastic day for three and a half hours.

Our morning routines change as we travel. Depending on the reason for the trip, you can try to keep the same routine by adjusting the time according to the time zone, or if you are on vacation, you may not set an alarm or have a structure where you want to completely relax. .

I’m done by scheduling this time on my calendar. If you are looking for time management help, read Time Management Tips to Improve Your Productivity and Deliverables.

Benefits of waking up at 5 am

Wake up at 5 AM has a number of benefits. Getting up early doesn’t just mean getting out of bed to “work” or getting into bad habits earlier.

Wake up at 5 a.m. until your next appointment, whether it’s work or a child, it’s your time. This is when you get a chance to do what you want. This is your time. Make the time your own that morning and you’ll be excited and want to get out of bed before sunset!

Set the tone that suits your day

When I wake up late, I’m in a hurry, dizzy, grumpy, and instead of owning the day I feel like the day owns me. I hate this feeling. I don’t like the feeling that the day turns away from me.

If you wake up early, you can set the mood for the day. A positive tone and mindset in the morning will lead to a positive attitude throughout the day. Also, I have a diary every morning and set a positive mindset because it aligns with my overall goals, reinforcing the purpose of why I work hard.

Start moving

Exercising in the morning will energize and look fantastic throughout the day. If you sweat a lot in the morning, you have no choice but to feel a sense of accomplishment. I live in Austin and prefer to exercise in the morning because it gets very hot in the summer.

Move your body and start exercising before 8 AM and check it out on the list so you don’t have to worry about starting it later in the day. Best of all, if you can’t exercise in the morning, you usually don’t do it at the end of the day. At the end of the day, I am exhausted and can’t expect, so I book an AM workout.

Do what you like

Best if you can expect to wake up at 5am. You can achieve this motivation by doing your favorite thing in the morning. This can be anything from learning a new language, practicing musical instruments, reading, writing or blogging. By doing it that morning you will look forward to doing it, and if you wake up and don’t follow your schedule, you will miss it.

Make your mind right

The morning routine is also a time to focus on mental strength and only the positive ones. Now is the time to reflect on and pay attention to what you are grateful for in your life. There is an empty diary for every morning. Every morning I write down what I am grateful for, a few affirmations, and my goals.

You can also use any diary, or look at the 5 minute diary if you need a rescue.

How to get up early

Getting into the habit of waking up at 5 am can be difficult and it takes time to get used to it.

Here are two things you can take to get into the habit of waking up at 5 AM.

1. Do it gradually. Wake up 15 minutes early every week until you arrive at 5 AM. This method takes time but is easy to use.

2. Or wake up at 5am when you promise it. So let’s say you wake up at 7:30 a.m. today, and today is the day you decided to read this and change it, and you wake up at 5 a.m. tomorrow. This is my preferred method. Of course you can, but if you know you want to do this, go for it and promise 100% from day one.

I also found this method easier because you will get tired early. So you will want to sleep earlier.

Go to bed early

It is difficult to go to bed early if the owl turns all night into a new morning. Your body is tuned to fall asleep at certain times, so changing it requires a little effort. The goal is to be consistent with what happens at 5 am. Eventually it wakes up before the alarm goes off.

I love to shock your system and wake up at 5 am. Because you will be more tired at night and want to sleep earlier. Add exercise in the morning and come at 8 or 9 PM. You will want to relax and sleep.

If you sleep late, you won’t get up quickly at 5am. Calculate how much time you need to sleep and work at the same time each night.

You need 7-7 and a half hours of sleep. I go to bed at around 9:30 every night.

Jump out of bed at 5 am

If the alarm goes off at 5 AM, jump out of bed without thinking about how tired you are, how comfortable you are, how much sleep you have, or if it is still dark.

As soon as the alarm goes off, take off the blanket, pop out of the bed, sound the alarm, go straight to the bathroom and turn on the light.

If you don’t want to wake up and have any thoughts of how cozy the bed is, you’re done.

Don’t put an alarm next to your bed (or over the bed).

I used to put an alarm right next to my bed, and as soon as the alarm went off, I reached out and snoozeed. It’s so easy to do that when it’s on your arm.

Most people now use their phones as alarms, so they don’t have to be on a stand. Since you put the phone on the window sill, you need to get out of bed and turn it off. And my window is far enough away from my end so that while I’m on the phone, I need to get out completely without putting one leg over the bed.

Put the alarm far enough to get out of bed. So jump off the end of the bed!

Preparing sportswear

If you are exercising in the morning, have a sweatshirt ready to change immediately. When you change clothes, you get away from your cozy pajamas and your condition quickly changes.

Also, if you have your sweatshirt ready in the morning, you don’t have to think about it, and when you get tough, you go to the closet and start looking for clothes. And if you have a partner who doesn’t wake up at 5 am, you don’t need to light up and wake your closet.

Review the reasons before going to bed

The final trick to getting ready to wake up mentally at 5 AM is to read what motivates you before going to bed. In a book called The Miracle Morning, Hal Elrod shares a night script that you can read before going to bed every night, so you are intentionally and intentionally awakening.

If there’s no convincing reason to wake up at 5 am, why do you do that? Your reason is your motive.

The more deliberate, the more consistent.
